Haresh Mehta MD
Dr. Haresh Mehta is President and owner of Biological Psychiatry Center, P.C. He is Board Certified and specializes in Child and Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric Psychiatry. Dr. Mehta has been in Private Practice since 1983 and is affiliated with Ascension St. John Hospital and Medical Center. He completed his Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at University of Michigan.
Dr. Mehta is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Psychiatric Association, American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and American Geriatric Psychiatric Association. Dr. Mehta has been listed in Hour Detroit Magazine as "Top Docs" for psychiatry numerous years.
Dr. Kathrine Mobisson is Board Certified in Adult Psychiatry and also specializes in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She has been in private practice since 2006. Dr. Mobisson received her Bachelors Degree from the Wellesley College in Wellesley, Massachusetts and received her Medical Degree from Duke University. She completed her Psychiatric Residency and her Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Fellowship at New York University. Prior to joining Biological Psychiatry Center, P.C., Dr. Mobisson was Director of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the League Education and Day treatment Center in Brooklyn, New York and was in private practice. Francesco Iacobelli, D.O.
Dr. Francesco Iacobelli is Board Certified in Adult Psychiatry. He has been in private practice since October 2020. Dr. Iacobelli is on staff with Ascension St. John Hospital and Medical Center. He received his Bachelor's Degree from the John Carroll University in University Heights, OH and received his Medical Degree from Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Dr. Iacobelli completed his Psychiatric Residency at Wayne State University/Detroit Medical Center. In addition to his medical degree, Dr. Iacobelli received his Law Degree from Western Michigan Cooley Law School in Lansing MI. He is a member of American Psychiatric Association, American Osteopathic Medical Association and American Bar Association.
Christie Cheng, M.D.
Dr. Christie Cheng is Board Certified in Adult Psychiatry. We are happy to announce she joined our practice on March 18, 2024. Dr. Cheng received her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan in Cell and Molecular Biology. She received her Medical Degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. Dr. Cheng is a member of the American Psychiatric Association and American College of Physicians.
Diane Russell graduated from Wayne State University in 1993 and is a Licensed Master Social Worker. She utilizes time tested modalities, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, in conjunction with holistic approaches that value the mind and body connection. You can expect to discover new insights as well as gain a means to cope with the challenges that brought you into therapy. Your initial visit will include a comprehensive interview and identifying your goals.
Ms. Russell specializes with anxiety and depression issues, family counseling, grief and loss, health issues, and marital or couples counseling. She treats adults and has limited availability for adolescents.
Diane Russell, L.M.S.W.
Michael Horwitz, A.C.S.W.
Michael Horwitz has over 40 years of work experience in the mental health field. He received his Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Chicago. He is Board Certified with the Academy of Certified Social Workers and the American Board of Examiners in Clinical Social Work.
Mr. Horwitz offers individual, conjoint and family therapy to children, adolescents and their parents as well as treatment for adults of all ages. His practice style is largely cognitive behavioral and supportive, encouraging patients to understand what is affecting their
behavior and emotions and developing approaches to make changes. Patients will be encouraged to ask questions.
Mary Koukios, A.C.S.W.
Mary Koukios has over 17 years of work experience in the mental health field. She received her Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan. She is Board Certified with the Academy of Certified Social Workers and the American Board of Examiners in Clinical Social Work.
Ms. Koukios treats a wide range of problems including ADHD, anger management, anxiety, behavioral issues, depression, grief and loss, parenting and relationship issues. She treats individuals, families and couples through therapeutic approaches, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy and insight-oriented therapy.
Mary DeCarolis, L.M.S.W.
Mary DeCarolis graduated with honors from Wayne State University in 1998 with her Master of Social Work degree. Since graduating she has practiced as a Clinical Social Worker in a variety of settings including outpatient, inpatient, partial hospital, the emergency room, children’s residential and clinical case management. She has also worked as a Patient Advocate and Recipient Rights Advisor and has written articles and given presentations on mental health issues in a variety of settings.
Trained in brief therapy with an emphasis on crisis intervention, Ms. DeCarolis provides person-centered treatment with a focus on the person in the environment and uses an eclectic approach to psychotherapy. She has experience treating clients of all ages from children to geriatric, as well as groups, families and couples. She is also a member in good standing of the Academy of Clinical Social Workers and looks forward to assisting you as you journey towards your personal goals.
Angie Niforos, Ph.D., LPC, NCC
Dr. Niforos earned her Ph.D. in Counseling from Oakland University in 2016. She has an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership (Eastern Michigan University) in addition to a Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counseling (Eastern Michigan University) and Educational Psychology (University of Michigan). She has her professional license in counseling and has earned National Certified Counselor credentials. Dr. Niforos has been in the field of education for 32 years working as a teacher and school counselor.
Her primary focus and specialization is in child and adolescent development with an emphasis on treating anxiety, depression, school and family related issues. Dr. Niforos uses techniques based in cognitive behavioral therapy, reality therapy and solution focused therapy to help clients develop skills and coping strategies. She is a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA), Michigan Mental Health Counselors Association (MMHCA), American School Counselor Association (ASCA), and Michigan School Counselor Association (MSCA).
Stanley Stanczak L.M.S.W., PhD
Dr. Stanczak has years of experience as a therapist doing individual and family therapy for all ages. His practice offers cognitive behavioral therapy, marital and family therapy, and sex therapy. He was educated at the University of Detroit, Wayne State University, and Walden University. He is a Board Certified Diplomat in Clinical Social Work, Licensed in Clinical Social Work, Licensed as a Marriage Counselor, and Certified as a Sex Therapist.
His experience includes work as a therapist in a public school setting, consultant to Police Departments, Expert Witness, Administrator of Out Patient Psychiatry practices, Research and Teaching, and Accreditation Specialist.
